Revit is a Building Information Modelling Software (BIM). This means it is different from AutoCAD. In AutoCAD we draw lines. But in Revit Architecture we have realistic building components like doors, windows, walls etc.
With these realistic building components all you need to do is to arrange those components together and viola! you have your aesthetic building model. It also have the capability to render the building model to look like a real building.
Because of this it is better than AutoCAD.
Revit also has an advantage over Sketchup, because Sketchup can not be used to produce working drawing

My name is Timothy Omatule and I have been using Revit Architecture since 2010.
I first started with AutoCAD but because of the dual functionality of Revit I had to immediately switch over to Revit.
And since then I have been earning a living from the use of Revit.
